LinkedIn and Vimeo Make Video Content Sharing Easier
Here’s a little background for those of you who aren’t sure what ‘Vimeo’ is.
Vimeo is an open video platform, a little like YouTube. One of the main differences between these two sites is that Vimeo is completely ad-free!
Vimeo and LinkedIn
On October 29th of this year (2018), Vimeo announced that they were collaborating with LinkedIn for a new integrated service. And what does this involve exactly? Well, the partnership is based on creating, publishing and monitoring video content on LinkedIn. Basically, the whole idea is that Vimeo will make sharing video content on LinkedIn Company Pages much easier.
Fun fact; this partnership is actually the very first platform to have ‘end-to-end’ integration with LinkedIn. So, you can now upload a video from Vimeo straight onto LinkedIn Company Pages using their ‘Publish to Social’ feature. Why would you want to do this? Well, there are three main reasons.
1. Reach
One of the most important elements of a Company Page on LinkedIn is their reach. Peter Roybal, LinkedIn’s Principal Product Manager, explained in their announcement that ‘native’ videos are preferred on LinkedIn. So, in keeping with this, uploading a video straight from Vimeo (a native site) means there’s a chance that it will receive more engagement and have a higher reach. Uploading end-to-end from Vimeo to LinkedIn is a good move for those Company Pages out there wanting to get more exposure on the site from their relative audiences.
2. Distribution
When I talk about how this new partnership will make video sharing easier, I mean a lot easier. If you’re a content creator and active on social media, you’ll know how annoying it is having to manually upload your video separately onto each different social media platform. With this new update to Vimeo, not only can you upload your video straight to LinkedIn with one click, but you can also upload it to all your other social media accounts in that same click too.
This new streamlined way to upload video content from Vimeo means that more than just your LinkedIn Company Page will reap the benefits of this partnership; your other social media pages and your website will as well. So your videos can be distributed across all of these different platforms, in just one click! Now that is easy.
3. Analytics
Having access to analytics for your content is a must. What good is it spending time on creating and posting all this content, if you can’t see how well it’s performing? You need to know how many people your content is reaching and how many people are engaging with it. And this is where Vimeo makes life easier, again!
You now have the ability to see all of the performance metrics for your videos from your LinkedIn Company Page and any other platforms, all in one place. This place is your Vimeo stats dashboard.
Your stats dashboard on Vimeo saves you a lot of time having to look at each social media account and website separately to view analytics. It makes looking at the performance, reach and engagement rates of your video so much more accessible for everyone.
Another handy little feature Vimeo has is their Video Marketing Suite. Here you can host videos, collaborate with other accounts and professionals, customize your videos and actually monetize them too!
This new end-to-end partnership between LinkedIn and Vimeo is a great for any businesses that create a lot of video content and have a company page on LinkedIn (which all modern-day businesses should). It kind of goes without saying, but this feature is only accessible to anyone with a Vimeo account. So if you like the sound of what you have read, but don’t have an account, then find out what else you can get if you subscribe to a Vimeo plan.
